Celebrity Hair and Fashion at The BAFTAs 2014

Celebrity Hair & Fashion at the BAFTAs

Our favourite television stars turned up the glamour at the coveted British Academy Television Awards ceremony in London.

The event celebrates the best in TV talent… and gives the team at our Wallasey Hair Salon the chance to check out the best hair and fashion at the BAFTAs.

Glamorous black gowns

It’s true to say that black is back!  Black was the dominating colour for women’s fashion at the TV BAFTAs.

Top marks to Sophie Ellis Bextor for her stylish hair updo with centre parting.  She added extra sparkle to her look with an embellished black dress.

Davina Mcall showed off her athletic figure in a tight-fitting asymmetric black dress with metal collar.  She topped off this sexy style with a blunt fringe and gentle waves in her hair.

Cilla Black wore a black and gold floor-length gown with a slit to the knee as she accepted a BAFTA for her contribution to the world of entertainment. As usual she kept her trademark red hair short and simple.

Monochrome dresses

We absolutely love Rochelle Humes’ BAFTA style.  She looked chic in a simple monochrome dress, understated jewellery and tiny clutch bag.  She topped off her look with long straight glossy brown hair parted in the centre.

Mary Berry and Julie Walters showed us that women of a certain age can look sophisticated, sexy and stylish.  Great British Bake Off star Mary Berry wore an age-appropriate monochrome dress with her trademark blonde bob.

Julie Walters was one of the biggest winners of the night, coming away with the prestigious BAFTA Fellowship Award which recognised her life’s work on TV.  She kept her outfit simple and modern with a short black dress with silver-sequin detail and a v-shaped  neck at the front and back. Her short hair has been well cut and styled to add texture and volume.

Bright fashion colours

Olivia Coleman proved she was a winner in the fashion category as well as taking BAFTAs for best leading actress and best drama award series for Broadchurch!  Her dazzling emerald green gown and her structured wavy hairstyle gave her look a retro feel.  Olivia Coleman is pictured with her equallly stylish Broadchurch co-stars Jodie Whittaker and Simone McAullay.

Heavily pregnant Atomic Kitten singer Natasha Hamilton looked fabulous in a tight-fitting cobalt blue long dress and flowing red curls pinned in a half-up style, while TV newsreader Susanna Reid kept her hair simple with long gently curled hair working perfectly with her show-stopping bright pink dress.

Daring BAFTAs fashion

All eyes were on Naomi Campbell who looked stunning in a cut-out flowing grey gown by Roberto Cavalli.  Her long, straight hair with centre parting looked glossy and well conditioned.

Actress Sheridan Smith turned heads with her bright pink quiff with shaved sides – a thoroughly modern style that complemented her short white shift dress.

The pretty sequinned dress worn by Made in Chelsea star Millie Mackintosh looked youthful and stylish.  However, her scraped back hairstyle looked quite severe head-on, but had a girly vibe when viewed from the side and back (see our photo below).

Stylish men at the BAFTAs

Most of the men sported a traditional black dinner jacket and tie or bow-tie like Breaking Bad star Aaron Paul.  He looked well groomed with short hair and a neatly trimmed beard.

One of our favourite looks was worn by Professor Green who teamed a blue t-shirt with a matching bright blue suit with black detail.  His red hair was slicked back into an on-trend quiff.

We have mixed opinions when it comes to Martin Freeman’s suit with matching green tie and handkerchief.  Nice suit and shoes.  Not sure about the sunnies!
